Welcome, Nucor!

My View by Mary Kesel graphic

We’re pleased to welcome the newest client to The Benefit Advocates — Nucor Corporation (NUE on the New York Stock Exchange).

Headquartered in Charlotte, N.C., Nucor is the nation’s largest steel producer and recycler. Here are a few other facts you might not know about the company:

  • Nucor operates facilities in 19 states and produces carbon and alloy steel in bars, beams, sheet, and plate; steel joists and joist girders; steel deck; cold finished steel; steel fasteners; metal building systems; and light-gauge steel framing.
  • Nucor traces its roots to Oldsmobile founder Ransom E. Olds.
  • In the 1980s, Nucor pioneered thin-slab casting – a process that substantially reduced the capital investment and costs to produce sheet steel. Forbes magazine calls thin-slab casting the most substantial, technological, industrial innovation of the last 50 years.
  • Forbes and Fortune consistently rank Nucor among America’s top companies. Nucor provides full college scholarships to the children of each of its more than 11,600 teammates, has an industry-leading pay-for-performance program and has never violated its no-layoff practice. No employee has ever been laid off for lack of work.

I guess you can see why Nucor is a perfect fit for The Benefit Advocates. The company’s goal to “Take Care of our Clients” sounds a lot like our own commitment to deliver the “Real People, Real Answers” service and customized benefit solutions that help you be your best.
